Are Persian Cats Hypoallergenic

Persian cats are one of the most beloved and popular cat breeds around. But, can they be kept by people with allergies? Are Persian cats hypoallergenic? The answer to this question is, no – Persian cats are not hypoallergenic. They may be considered to have lower levels of Fel d 1 allergen than some other breeds, but their fur still contains enough allergen that those with a severe allergy should avoid contact. All cats produce allergens in the form of proteins found in saliva and skin cells that stick to the fur when grooming themselves. People who suffer from cat allergies usually find themselves reacting at varying levels depending on how much time they spend around different types of felines. While some people might find it easier to tolerate certain breeds over others due to differences in their coat or genetic makeup, there is no guarantee any given individual won’t experience an allergic reaction while spending time with a particular type of feline. When it comes to dealing with allergies caused by Persian cats specifically, there isn’t any definitive evidence that speaks definitively for or against their relative level of allergen production compared to other varieties of domestic cat breed; however Siberians seem particularly promising as potential companions for those who suffer from mild-to-moderate allergic reactions when exposed to felines typically associated with more severe reactions such as Persians and Maine Coons . In the end your best bet is always going out and seeing if you have an adverse reaction before committing yourself long term into having a Persian Cat as part pet companion!
